I love all of Kim Dare's stories, but I really loved this one because it was long enough to fully develop the relationship. I thought the letter writing was a great way for these two guys to find a way to communicate when they both find saying what they feel diificult, especially Scott. Also I found Joe's protectiveness of Scott added a very sweet note in a story that has a lot of kink and hot sex in it.Product details

Pushing the Envelope edition by Kim Dare Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I love reading books, but I hate writing reviews. That being said, I rate this book Story 5/5 stars. Heat level 5/5 stars.

Pushing the Envelope by Kim Dare, though previously released I loved it all in one story. I think it added to the entire story to have it all in one. Ms. Dare brings a lot of emotion and love to her stories. I love that this one is written as almost love letters to each other. Something I have not seen a lot of in stories.
Joe finds a note in his locker one day at the place he tends bar at. He gets an offer in the note and takes the man up on it. This is the start of a hot and steamy relationship.
Scott is very shy. He doesn't know how to talk to Joe in person. So he uses notes. He wants to learn to be the best sub he can be from Joe and Joe is more than eager to have someone he can train to be just his.
I liked the dynamic between these characters. They have a real chemistry that translates onto the pages. I could smile, feel embarrassed, and cheer for these two. I love stories where I feel a deep connection to the characters and this one is that for me. I highly recommend this one for being different, and for the intense love inside the pages.
Five Shooting Stars
I had been meaning to read this for awhile, but when it was released as one volume (and available for Unlimited!) I picked it up immediately.
I don't read a lot of serials, but I really enjoyed the format for this story. Each chapter had a lovingly detailed BDSM scene, and they increased in intensity as the sub (Scott) became more comfortable with his dom (Joe) and himself. I read about a chapter a day; I normally read a bit faster than that, but this is a story I wanted to stretch out a bit - in part because too much sex all at once spoils the feel for me, but mostly because the characterization of the two principles and their emerging relationship was handled so deftly, in such an understated way, that I wanted the time to think about their interactions. I especially liked how Joe slowly learned how to understand Scott personally as well as sexually. I loved Joe's inner dialogue near the end, when he was trying to figure stuff out.
At the end, I initially wished that there was more about how Joe and Scott lived out their relationship - because I wanted to know! But in retrospect I think that for me, at least, that was better left for musing in the shower; the story ended when it needed to and left me with a lot to think about.
I liked this a lot for a good BDSM erotic romance, although it slowed down a bit in the middle few chapters. If it had been written all together as a novella, we would have had more relationship talk midway. The guys may have been able to interact a little more into each other's outside lives. And I would have liked that. But given that this was released in chapters, Ms. Dare did a good job of each one feeling like an individual and complete scene.
You always knew there was another letter coming, and were therefore anticipating the next installment/chapter, but there aren't little cliffhangers at the end of each chapter. For that reason, it makes it easy to take your time with this. I'd read one to three per day, maybe taking a day off here and there. No huge tension or need to stay up late reading. That's just the nature of the format, and a positive thing since I'm assuming they were released in pieces.
But given that they're all out now, you obviously would want to get this compilation instead of the individuals if your interesting in reading this. It is absolutely all one piece and you really need to read all 14 (16 now? She added 2 more) to get the whole story.
The sex was hawt. And chapters 1-10 or so all had unique and interesting scenarios. By the last few chapters it was a lot more focused on the relationship, and I think this was harder to accomplish in this format. Ms. Dare still needed a sex scene per chapter/episode and she didn't want to leave us any cliffhangers. So really it's not until the last chapter that it all gets worked out. I was starting to get a bit antsy by chapter 12, but I did still enjoy it.
If you like a tad bit of romance with your kink then I think you'll like this. Be prepared for a strong and confidant Dom, and an uber insecure and stuttering sub. (That reminds me of one other comment. Scott said he only stutters when he's nervous but he ALWAYS stuttered. I got that for most of the chapters, but near the end that would have been a nice tool to use to show us that he was getting more comfortable and confident with Joe.)
The writing itself was good. I didn't think the characters had chemistry. There are parts of a Dom sub relationship that was left out that always seemed very important in the other books about this type of relationship
Enjoyed the story and relationship development
