Goddess Interrupted Aimée Carter Books

Twists, drama, betrayal, a little bit of romance and a touch of the unknown are what fans of Aimee Carter's Goddess Test series can except to find in her sequel, Goddess Interrupted. I couldn't wait to jump back into this series. I wasn't sure what to to except with this sequel, as I had a lot of unanswered questions after reading the first book in this series, and I definitely received a few answers I wanted and then some. What Aimee did with her storyline completely took me by surprised. I wasn't expecting some of the things that happened, to happen in this story. In order to keep my review spoiler free, I won't get into specifics, but I will say I loved that Aimee totally upped the game with Goddess Interrupted.

In The Goddess Test Kate won her immortality and her hand in marriage to Henry, but in this sequel we get to see just how hard that immortality is going to be for Kate. Thinking that returning back to the Underworld after months being above the surface (which was part of the agreement), Kate isn't treated with the warm welcome she expected. Instead she's greeted with chaos and a husband who's standoffish, leaving Kate to wonder if she did the right thing. There were moments during this story I wanted to thump both Henry and Kate upside their heads, not that, that would have done anything. They are immortal after all, but I seriously wanted to tell both of them to wake up and realize what they're doing and how it's effecting the other person. I started to get a little frustrated, as well as impatient with them during parts of this book, but I was rewarded for my patience with a great scene between these two, towards the end. I'll just leave it at that... *evil laugh*

Aimee surprised me with how emotionally invested I got with her book. There were times I wanted to jump in and ask the characters what the heck they were doing and other times I understood the motives behind their actions. There were a few characters who played much bigger roles in the story this time around, like Persephone. I liked getting to know her and understand her a bit more, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her as the series continues. I also liked getting to know a little bit more about the mythology and the history behind the Gods and Titans, and the role their history plays on what's happening now in this book that makes up the drama and action that take place. What surprised me the most with Goddess Interrupted were the unexpected, unpredictable plot twists that Aimee threw into her story. Wow those were good. Talk about a killer ending! I did not see that one coming.... I can not wait to get my hands on The Goddess Inheritance.

If you're a fan of The Goddess Test, I'd definitely recommend picking up Goddess Interrupted!

Goddess Interrupted Aimée Carter Books Reviews

I have so many feelings after finishing this book and while some of these feelings hurt, they hurt in the best way possible. I know what I've read is amazing when, after finishing the book, I want to thank the author for crushing my heart. That is exactly what I want to do with this book. I'd like to thank Aimee Carter for writing a book that has ripped my heart out in the most delicious way.

My main problem with The Goddess Test was how the mythology was handled. I missed that sinfulness that has become so associated with Greek Mythology. In Goddess Interrupted, you get some of that put back in the story. The Gods and Goddess aren't quite as put together as they appear in the first book and I absolutely loved it. I love more and more this world Carter has created.

I found Kate extremely interesting in this book. In The Goddess Test, Kate was very dependent on her mother. Nearly everything she decides is connected to her mother in some way. In Goddess Interrupted, Kate has lost the dependence on her mother, but instead needs Henry. She hasn't quite become her own person just yet, but the ending of Goddess Interrupted gives me hope that Kate is finally coming into her own and finding the ability to depend on herself for something. Of course, the major cliffhanger has me salivating for more and hoping Kate is able to keep growing into her own person, not dependent on anything or anyone, but can stand on her own.

The romance part of the book takes a slight backseat for parts of the novel and I'm completely fine with that. The parts of the novel between Kate and Henry were frustrating, sweet, amazing, and perfect. They're still trying to figure everything out about their relationship. They don't fall into the perfect relationship right away. They dance around each other, make mistakes. It's absolutely wonderful to see a relationship written the right way.

Goddess Interrupted is a book that has left me utterly crushed, yet hopeful and eagerly anticipating The Goddess Inheritance. It can't some out soon enough.
I finished this book in a day, but it was a love hate relationship. Now don't get me wrong I love the story line and the path that Kate has to take to save the people she loves. What I did not like was her constant need for reassurance from Henry, I understand her need but it was hard to read and sort of stressful. Why the author felt she needed to drag out the difficulties of their relationship in the way she chose is beyond me, and I feel sort of took away from the story as a whole.

Saying all of that I still love this series and, like I said before, finished the book in a day. The story keeps you captivated the whole time and once things are finally settled a little bit for Kate and Henry its easy to love the relationship they develop. I continue to love all the main characters and the roll each of them play in Cronus, the Titans, struggle to escape the underworld. This second book is pretty fast paced and keeps the reader intrigued. The ending is pretty shocking in more way than one and definitely leaves you hanging needing to find out what will happen next. Luckily for me and you the third and final book in the series is already released and downloaded on my kindle.
